How to elevate your AlumierMD Peel results
You may think that the most significant changes happen to your skin during your peel treatment, but the actual results can really start to show within the next 7-10 days after your peel. This means that we’ve set your skin up for change to begin, and it’s down to you to maintain what we started. No pressure!
Forgotten what happens to your skin during a chemical peel?
Heres a little summary of what your skin goes through;
A chemical peel is a treatment which involves a combination of active ingredients such as AHA’s (known as Alpha Hydroxy Acids) and BHA’s (known as Beta Hydroxy Acids) to help exfoliate the skin without affecting your skins protective barrier (this means without scrubbing your face within an inch of it’s life!). This can result in a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, redness and acne, giving the skin an overall healthy glow. These acids can be customised to each person and will treat every client’s face slightly different, as no ones skin is the same. The treatment can take up to 45 minutes and can achieve beautiful results in a shorter/longer period of time depending on the concerns
Now it’s your turn, here is our DO’s and DON’Ts list of what to do to maintain your results:
DO:
Use our Post Procedure Pack after your treatment
This pack has been created to look after your skin after your peel to ensure your skin is getting the right ingredients it needs to regenerate and heal well. It contains SensiCalm, Recovery Balm and Sheer Hydration Broad Spectrum SPF 30 which includes hydrating ceramides, soothing ingredients, antioxidants, and SPF protection. An absolute must!
Treat your skin internally using supplements
Everyday pollution, debris, sunlight, cold winds, and more can cause damage to the lower layers of the skin, particularly when it is healing after a treatment. This can be a big part of how our skin ages, and how quickly it ages too. Dose yourself up with lots of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and omegas to help with healing and protection – think of it like your internal skincare routine!
Use at home peels
Around 10 days after a chemical peel, using the Enzymatic Peel at home will help with any dry, peeling or flaky skin still left hanging around. You can use it 1-3 times a week as an at-home peel to keep the cell turnover of your skin ticking over at a better rate. To enhance your results even more, you could follow with the Aqua Infusion Mask to infuse skin with hydration. Do this a couple of times a week alongside your skincare regime and your results will continue to improve.
DONT:
Pick!
After an AlumierMD peel, you might find you have a few dry, flaky, or peeling bits of skin in the first 7-10 days. Picking them off is not recommended as you could also be potentially pulling off healthy skin which can lead to scarring, skin dents and post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation, so avoid picking as much as possible.
Forget the next 7-10 days are vital
Avoid doing anything that will cause additional stress to the skin whilst it’s healing. Avoid the gym, swimming and saunas in the first 24 hours and keep your skin nourished, protected and hydrated (using the post procedure pack) to avoid damaging vulnerable skin. In the days and week after, drink lots of water to help every system in your body work efficiently and ensure you sleep and rest enough.
Expose skin to UV – sunbeds are a huge no no!
UV rays can be harmful to the skin, especially when you’ve had a peel as the dead skin (which creates a protective layer) has been exfoliated off, so your skin has even less protection that usual – hence the gorgeous post-peel glow! Moderate-high sun exposure/sunbeds is to be avoided for at least 2 weeks prior to a peel (4 weeks if you have sunburn) and 2 weeks post peel. If you have never had a peel before and you’re a regular sunbed user, please consider that this may not be the right treatment for you.
